Surgery

Learning that your pet needs surgery, whether it’s for something serious or just a routine spay or neuter, can be a nerve wracking time for most pet owners. You probably have a lot of questions and concerns about the process, and you most certainly want to be sure your loved one receives the best possible care. The team at Starch Pet Hospital works hard to make every surgical procedure performed at our facility as positive and stress-free an experience as possible. We want to set your mind at ease and assure you that your four-legged friend will be in excellent hands with our surgical team.

Our highly skilled veterinarians are experienced at performing a wide variety of pet surgeries, from routine to complex. We use only the safest available pain management protocols, which are tailored specifically to each patient, ensuring the utmost comfort while also reducing risk as much as possible. We never want to place our patients in danger, and we take every precaution to ensure a safe, uneventful experience.

Should surgery be recommended for your pet, we won’t move forward until we’ve conducted a thorough pre-surgical screening. We want to make sure that your companion is well enough to receive anesthesia and undergo the procedure. This is especially important for pets that are older or animals that suffer from existing health problems. We want to identify any potential risk factors ahead of time, so we can plan accordingly to account for and manage those risks moving forward.

During your pet’s surgery, our doctors will work diligently, using the most up to date surgical techniques and always adhering to the strictest standards of care. Our well trained veterinary technicians and assistants will be available to lend a hand during surgery and to closely monitor your pet’s wellbeing at all times throughout the procedure. We use cutting edge monitoring equipment to measure your companion’s vital signs, including the heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen levels.

When the procedure has been completed, we’ll carefully move your pet to the recovery area of our hospital, where they’ll begin to safely wake up from the anesthesia. Someone from our team will contact you to explain how the surgery went, discuss any results or findings and arrange a time for you to pick your pet up. When you arrive, we’ll go over our postsurgical care instructions, including an appropriate plan for managing your pet’s pain while recovering at home.

Should any questions or concerns arise once you’ve returned home with your pet, please do not hesitate to call us. No question is too small or insignificant when it comes to the care of our patients.

If your pet needs surgery, don’t fret. The team at Starch Pet Hospital is ready, willing and able to assist. We’ll have your companion fixed up and on the road to a full and speedy recovery in no time!
