Laser Therapy

Over the past few decades, many advancements have been made in terms of the technologies and treatment options available to us for the care our animal companions. One such advancement in veterinary medicine is the use of a therapeutic laser for pain management and the treatment of a wide variety of health conditions. Laser therapy is a painless, non-invasive and drug-free treatment method that has been proven to be highly effective in reducing pain, improving mobility and speeding healing following surgery or injury. Starch Pet Hospital is proud to offer this innovative therapy to better serve the needs of our valued clients in caring for their beloved pets.

What is laser therapy?

Laser therapy involves the use of a small, handheld device that emits a high intensity beam of light called a laser. The laser painlessly penetrates the skin to target areas of the body that are experiencing discomfort, pain or reduced mobility, or areas that have suffered injury or trauma, such as the site of a surgical procedure. The laser triggers a natural response within the body to reduce the sensation of pain, and speed the healing process.

What can laser therapy be used to treat?

The therapeutic laser can be used to treat a broad range of injuries and medical conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Arthritis
  • Degenerative Joint Disease
  • Hip Dysplasia
  • Acute and Chronic Pain
  • Inflammation
  • Strains and Sprains
  • Infections
  • Allergies
  • Post-Surgical Healing / Pain Relief
  • Tendonitis
  • Injury Rehabilitation
  • Much More…

How many treatments will my pet need?

The results of laser therapy can often be seen after just one treatment, however, the number and frequency of sessions your pet will require in order to achieve optimum results will vary, depending on the animal and what they’re being treated for. Our experienced doctors can provide you with a more detailed treatment protocol after they’ve had a chance to evaluate your pet’s specific condition.
